Sure, with Dunkin’ Donuts you can get a small coffee for less than 2 dollars. But buying your own Dunkin’ Donuts leads to an even lower price per cup.

But the thing is, just because you’ve bought a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee doesn’t automatically mean that you always end up with a great cup of coffee. You should know what you’re doing first. 

Sure, it’s not as if using your coffee brewer at home is overly complicated. But here are some tips that should help you out:

  1. Keep Your Coffee Brewer Clean

This is one of the prime directives of proper coffee brewing. Try to clean the coffeemaker after each time you use it. That means using soapy water to wash the lids, filter basket, and the carafe. 

Remove the used grounds right after brewing your coffee. You can end up with icky mold if you left them in for a few days.

Generally, you should also run the brew cycle with equal parts of vinegar and water to clean the machine thoroughly. Do this at least once a month.

 

  1. Store the Coffee Beans Properly

Use an airtight container for your coffee beans. A mason jar will do just fine. Set it into a cool place that’s not humid at all, like the back of the pantry. 

  1. Use the Right Water

Your cup of coffee doesn’t just depend on the quality of your coffee beans. So, even buying Dunkin’ coffee won’t help if you’re just using your regular tap water. This tap water is generally filled with various impurities that reduce the quality of the resulting coffee. 

Instead, use bottled spring water or filtered water. You’ll be able to taste the improvement right away.

The right cup helps to keep your coffee warm. The wrong cup, on the other hand, can quickly cool your cup so it doesn’t take long for the coffee to drop to room temperature. So, use a cup that can insulate the coffee. 

It also helps if you pre-warm the cup before you pour the coffee into it. Just use the extra hot water and leave some of it into the cup while the coffee is brewing. 

While you’re at it, use hot water to rinse out your pour-over gadget or your French press before you add the coffee grounds.
