I would love if everyone reading this could check on someone they love sometime during the month, every month. All it takes is a phone call, or a quick stop. This just may save someone heartache we have had this past week.
On Monday my husband got a phone call that he needed to check on his sister and brother-in-law. He did immediately when he got off the phone. Normally we would have check on them but life got in the way and we just have not spent time with them in the last few months.
When he arrived his sister was in and out of a diabetic coma and his brother-in-law was on the floor and will never regain consciousness. He called for 2 different ambulances and we then rushed to the hospital. They immediately transferred the brother-in-law to another larger better hospital. They were able to stabilize his sister’s sugar levels, which were over 900 when we arrived.
We went home to get some rest. We ran to both hospitals the next day and nothing had changed. At 3:00 am the phone rang and his sister’s heart had stopped but they had her stabilized. She was transported to the bigger hospital. So now we are only dealing with 1 hospital now.
Since this time my brother-in-law was disconnected from life support and we are waiting on the news of his passing. My sister-in-law had a stent put in and will now need to live in a nursing home, she is only 67 years old.
So as you can see if we had checked on them more often we could have possible saved them some misery.
My dear readers, please spend just a few minutes and check on a neighbor, relative, or friend!
Thank You,
Laura
