All of these great pictures come from Perfect Honeymoon Abroad.
I have been to Mexico several times. This was before all the grandchildren came along. I am going to try to find pictures but this was over 10 years ago, but we still remember.
First time everyone was going to Cancun, and after hearing all the stories we had to go! We were able to book an awesome hotel. I am talking 3 huge pools, people waiting on you hand and foot, the food was included, the room was beautiful, and the most beautiful view of the ocean! Almost forgot the swim up bar. They do not miss any details.
I remember that I had a hard time remembering any spanish, from high school, no wonder. I tried a few words with the waiter and he started talking back to me in spanish and I laughed and told him how sorry I was for being so bad at Spanish in his country! He thought I was so funny. We had a wonderful meal and really enjoyed talking to the wait staff.
When we travel to places we want to see exactly how people live, not just the beautiful hotels. So we decided to go downtown the next day. We wandered around and I decided since everyone had their hair braided I would get mine done too. The problem was mine was only shoulder length. These women took me to where they did hair, while hubby had a few cocktails. Well there was no mirror, and now I know why. I came back to my husband and he could not hold back the laughter, even the waiter, which I had not met yet, was laughing. My husband really did try but he was going to burst. Well I decided that I must look pretty bad but I was never going to see these people again so we had fun with it. I have a picture of me and the cutest waiter ever, hugging. When I got back to the hotel I seen my hair and I knew what my husband was laughing about.
The next day was our resting day. All the travel and excitement had gotten to us. So we just stuck around the hotel. But we were still busy. They have different things on each day to teach you how to make something, or dancing, you will be busy if you stay at the hotel all week.
The next day we had booked a party boat ride. They took us to a nearby island that just a few people lived on. They had bars set up on the beach and lunch was a big buffet of all kinds of great things. I was relaxing, maybe closing my eyes, when I noticed hubby has been gone a little too long. So I start to wander and see if I could find him, assuming he was checking out the cute chicks on the beach. Well after looking all over the area we were in, I noticed a fence and a little smoke coming over it. It smelled really good.
Azul Sensatori by KarismaI have to tell you at the time my husband was around 60 years old and never in his life spoke 1 word of spanish. So I glance around this fence and guess who is sitting there laughing, drinking, and eating right off this huge grill, yeah he was. I ask him how he knew what they were saying, he said he didn’t he just pointed at the food and beer and they were all laughing and having a great time.
If that was not enough on the way back the party boat employees were pouring rum down anyone’s throat that wanted it. There were little, thin, cute, spanish girls putting big triple shots between their breasts and a lot of people got up and drank those. Yeah, he did! Hubby could not resist! We both had a great time.
We were there for 7 days and did something great everyday. Like I said we did not have to the hotel was perfect and could have kept us busy.
All week we would see these people on jet skis in a row and they would come back an hour later, we asked and they went snorkeling or swimming in a special area. Cool right!? Our plane did not leave until around 2 in the afternoon so we decided we would do the jet ski thing in the morning of our last day. Now we are in the shark invested water on this jet ski built for 2. The guy slows down and says keep your feet in the jet ski because we have to travel through where alligators live. I can do that. He also said keep it full speed to stay up. Hubby was driving he could do that. Just about the time we started to get a little behind, hubby starts to hit the speed, all of a sudden the motor fell off into the ocean. We sat there, no one around and had no clue what to do. Now are we ever going to get on our plane?
After probably the longest 10 minutes of our life the guide came back. He had me switch to his jet ski, then him and my husband pulled on the gas line and the motor was still attached, do not ask me how. They were able to get it back on and after a few minutes it started. The guide took us a little slower and we met up with the group. The area was so beautiful, you could see the fish in the water. We were glad when we got back on solid ground but it was something we would have never experienced and have not done since then.
We still talk about it when something reminds us of our Cancun vacation!
This is a sponsored post but it is my real vacation experience.
Would love to go…….I am just scared of all the terrorist activities lately in Mexico.
That looks lovely. I’ve never been to Mexico.
