Garlic Press and Ginger Press
Do you use garlic or ginger when you cook? If you do then you really need this press! This is heavy and heavy-duty! Super strong! It holds a large garlic clove or 2 small ones. I did not use it for ginger so I am not sure but it holds a lot.
Why make a big mess cutting up or crushing garlic when you can use this and throw it in the dishwasher when done.
It has the handles that do not slip. A garlic clove is not very strong but this will take it and make it easy to add to any recipes. It chops and minces all at the same time. You can also use this for small lemons.
I like it best because you can wash it in the dishwasher. And no water gets trapped in the handle so it does not rust or peel.
It will save you money because no garlic gets wasted.
I found some more information on wikipedia:
Garlic presses present a convenient alternative to mincing garlic with a knife, especially because a clove of garlic can be passed through a sturdy press without even removing its peel. The peel remains in the press while the garlic is extruded out. Some sources also claim that pressing with the peel on makes cleaning the press easier. Garlic crushed by a press is generally believed to have a different flavor from minced garlic, more of garlic’s strong flavor compounds are liberated. A few sources prefer the flavor of pressed garlic. Raw-foods chef Renée Underkoffler says “a good garlic press makes dealing with garlic a clean pleasure. Pressed garlic has a lighter, more delicate flavor than minced garlic because it excludes the bitter center stem.” The magazine Cook’s Illustrated says “a good garlic press can break down cloves more finely and evenly than an average cook using a knife, which means better distribution of garlic flavor throughout any given dish.
