The time just before the holidays can be a real stress tester for many mothers. You have so much work to do to get the house looking great and to prepare everything for all the big days ahead. You have family coming over and not a lot of time to clean and do the things you want to once they are there, so you have to be working while everyone else is just starting to think about the holiday season.
In preparing your home for this festive season, we don’t want you to stress out or get overwhelmed. We have put together a few tips that will help you get past the work and into the fun part of the season.
First of all, don’t try to do everything yourself. If you live with some kids and a spouse, you can always get them to do some work. You are planning far ahead, in all likelihood, and you can get them to do the same. Tell them the jobs you want them to have done before a certain date and give them plenty of time to do it. Keep giving them gentle reminders to ensure they stay on track and don’t forget the work they need to do.
You can also hire a cleaning company to do some of the cleaning for you. It’s likely that you want to get some deep cleaning done that includes other features like dusting, and you may not have time to fully clean everything like you want to and get everything else done that’s on your to-do list. It’s okay to hire some professional help to make things go faster and to ensure that the job gets done properly.
We also suggest making out a list of all the things you want to get done before the holidays hit or before family shows up at your doorstep. If you don’t make a list, then you will likely forget something’s until the last minute and then stress yourself out trying to get them done on time. Just make a list and add to it as you need to. Post it somewhere that you can keep checking on it regularly and where you will notice it each day, such as on the fridge or on the inside of the front door.
Our next tip is to buy all the cleaning supplies you need once you make out that list. That way, you will be able to do the cleaning you need to when you have some extra time. You may find yourself with a rainy day and nothing to do inside. It would be the perfect time to get homework done, but you may not feel like going outside to buy the equipment you need to do your cleaning. If you have it all on hand already, that makes things much simpler and allows you to make good use of your time.
Hopefully, a few of these tips will make your holiday cleaning a lot faster and simpler. Keep checking with us to find more tips like this that will make your life easier.
