Betty, My Granddaughter Was Born 10 Weeks Early
Did you know that every minute 62 children enter a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital for treatment. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the U.S. provide more than $3.5 billion in charitable care every year. This is why I wanted you to know about how Betty, My Granddaughter Was Born 10 Weeks Early! She was so tiny, helpless, and in need of the best care. Your donations help children’s hospitals provide the best care for the kids. It can mean a matter of life or death of a child in need.
Betty was so little so she needed special bottle that were tiny compared to the normal ones. They had to watch how things went in and out. She was born with part of 1 lung underdeveloped. She also had hip dyspepsia and a heart murmur. She spent 3 months in the hospital. It was so scary and I could understand that my daughter wanted to be there if something happened.
Her mother was so worried about her and was trying to breast feed her to give her what help she could. The hospital was over an hour away from her home. She did not have a good car for traveling like that, so the hospital helped her and gave her a room to stay in during those long months. The room was attached to the hospital, so she just walked back and forth. They had healthy snacks available for the people staying in the rooms. She had to get help with her 2 boys that were at home, which just added to her stress.
Without the help the hospital gave her I am not sure what would have happened. We did what we could be we are 3 hours away so I could not go up and give her a break. Betty had ups and downs after she was born but the nurses and the hospital were a huge help and without donations from others they could not do what they do! Her brothers worried about her but also missed their Mother. A friend brought the boys up a few times so they could visit with Mom and see their sister. You never realize how many people and things are affected when a child is born with difficulties or becomes ill. That is why Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is such an important part of our lives.
She is still small for her age but she is healthy. She may have to get surgery for her hip dyspepsia in the future. She is so happy and loves to play. She started pre school this year and absolutely loves it. Thank you to all the Nurses, Doctors, Hospital, and Donators that helped her and her Mother to get through this very tough time!
