San Diego Is a Great Destination for Families
With its gorgeous weather and many attractions, it goes without saying that San Diego is a prime tourist attraction in the United States. It does not matter if you are looking for a place that is good for a family vacation or a romantic getaway, San Diego fits the bill in both cases. The list of things to do in this great city is enormous, so you can spend a long time there and still not scratch the surface of what the city has to offer. Before you book a hotel for you and your family, read a FAQ guide to staying in San Diego. This will give you valuable information about the city that will make your stay more enjoyable. Book a hotel for you and your family.
1. San Diego Automotive Museum
This is a great place to stay if you just want to find a place you can relax in air-conditioned comfort and get out of the sunny heat that San Diego is known for. You will enjoy your time at the San Diego Automotive Museum if you have a passion for cars and their history. There are a wide variety of cars, trucks and motorcycles that have all been lovingly restored so they could be put on display. It can also be an educational experience for people who do not know very much about the history of automobiles.
2. USS Midway Museum
The USS Midway Museum is the perfect attraction for people who have an interest in the naval history of this country. You will be getting on board a real United States aircraft carrier. This is a unique experience that any military history buff should be sure to take advantage of. The aircraft carrier now serves as a maritime museum. Navy Pier is where you will need to go to find this attraction. The USS Midway was in active duty from 1945 to 1991. This is the longest period of time that any aircraft carrier has ever been in active service in American Navy history. The entire carrier can be toured. It is hard to believe that almost 200,000 members of the navy lived in this carrier during its time in active duty. Visitors will also be able to look at several planes that are also on display.
3. Belmont Park
Not to be confused with the Belmont Park in New York, this is an amusement park that people have been enjoying on a continuous basis for 90 years. It has been around for so long that it has developed into one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city. As amazing as it may seem, the park still contains several of the original rides that have been there since the time of its original opening in 1925. There is a roller coaster made from wood called the Giant Dipper. It has been very well-preserved, especially when you consider how many times it has been used over the years. As you might imagine, an amusement park is great for both couples and families alike.
4. San Diego Zoo Safari Park
There are many wonderful zoos in the United States. However, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park has a reputation for being one of the greatest. More than 2,500 animals are a part of this zoo, which spans a massive 1,650 acres. There are estimates that as many as one million people come to see the animals in this park on a yearly basis. People can get a good view of the various animals by taking a ride on a tram that enables people to see inside the various areas where the animals are living.
