Winning Moves Games – Upwords
Upwords has sent word builders to soaring new heights ever since the game debuted in 1983. Now, the classic 80’s version is back! The 8×8 size game board grid and 64 letter tiles challenge players to think Upside the box! In Upwords letters can be stacked on top of other letters already on the game board to create new words. The higher the stack of letters, the more points are scored. Words built-in later turns of the game are more valuable than earlier words, increasing the fun and adding a level of strategy unique to Upwords.
- Upwords game debuted in 1983
- Includes instructions, 8×8 size game board grid and 64 letter tiles
- The higher the stack of letters, the more points are scored
- Words built-in later turns of the game are more valuable
Everything you need is included. This game is great to play with kids and adults.
This puts a new twist on scrabble. It is a word game that is simple enough for an early spellers to figure out (great for 3 and 4 letter words) but that can be complex enough for a Words-With-Friends.
Play is as follows: Players draw 7 tiles. The first player forms a word that covers one of more of the center squares, and then draws more tiles to maintain 7. The next player can build words next to and on top of the played word. For example, if the word “sound” were on the board, you could add an “a” and play a “r” over the “s” to make “around”. You score one point for each tile in your word, plus a point for each tile UNDER your word. The board is purposely small to encourage building words up. Unlike Scrabble, there are no extra points squares on the board.
